Suffer from Spring Allergies when Northern Virginia Blooms?

Thursday, March 6, 2008

Brambleton and all of Virgina is lovely in the spring. With a plethora of spring and summer flora and fauna getting ready to bloom, Here is a great set of tips from South Riding Acupuncture’s Rachal Lohr-Dean:

“Spice it up! Spicy dishes can thin mucus secretions and clear nasal passages. Try adding cayenne pepper or ginger to your foods. Ginger is a natural antihistamine and decongestant. It may provide some relief from allergy symptoms by dilating constricted bronchial tubes.”

Happy breathing, everyone.

May your “few and far between” sneezes always be blessed, too.

Forecast for Valentine Snow? February 13-14, 2008 Loudoun County

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

After a daunting ice storm hitting out area roads yesterday, Loudoun County residents are justified in feeling a bit leery about the road conditions tonight that are leading them home. Valentines Day outings may also have been put on hold–but relax. It appears as if snow showers predicted for our area this evening will give way under the strong and lovable winter sunbeams planning to kiss our area for Cupid’s holiday event. For more information about the upcoming weather conditions or to look back in time at recorded annual weather event history for the February 14th kissing day, check out Weather Underground.

Winter Wind Advisory in Brambleton December 16-17, 2007

Sunday, December 16, 2007

Wow! It’s the 16th of December and the wind is really whipping up a storm here in the DC Metro region. Jack Frost seems to have come into the Dulles Airport with IAD BRRRR boldly printed on his luggage tag. Fortunately, we avoided the ice accumulations our Midwest neighbors suffered; however, that cold North Wind is taking its toll.

According to the National Weather Service (, a Wind Advisory is in effect until Monday Night (12/17) with wind gusts expected to blow up to 50 mph. That means Brambletonians need to be extra careful driving to avoid road debris, coming through the Ryan Road construction (not to drift), and holiday outdoor decorations may need to be temporarily brought in or re-secured.

We all are looking forward to safe arrival of our families in the coming week. If you see your neighborhood stuff has begun to blow, be a friendly resident and let them know.

Stay safe and warm out there, Brambleton!
