CONCORSO BALTIMORE 2008: Celebrating the
Art of the Automobile—September 6 & 7, 2008
A Community Fund Raising Benefit and Exotic Car Show to Benefit the USO
Welcome, Baltimore Washington and DC Metro Area Residents!

Maserati of Baltimore, Signature Flight Support, and the Cordish Company are proud to host this year’s 1st annual “Concorso For USO”. Get your tickets early–space is limited–and all event proceeds go to benefit the USO Metro.

MODIFIED 8/19/2008–see http://www.mobexotics.com for details. Saturday activities at this two-day Baltimore event include a limited space road rally and private ticket sale evening reception. Sunday offers all Baltimore residents and guests an up close and personal view of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, BMW, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, and all sorts of museum quality collectible exotic cars–expect the crowd to ooh and ahh more than those watching a fireworks show!

The rally starts Saturday morning at Maserati of Baltimore and wends 80 vehicles of “pilot” drivers and “co-pilot” navigators through pastoral Baltimore County in search of clues while racing to complete a friendly competition “passport” fun run. Light breakfast items and mid-day snacks will be provided to participants.

CANCELED 8/19/2008 The early evening reception, called “Wings and Wheels”, will be at Signature Flight Support on the grounds of BWI. The catered affair is also a charity auction and exhibit of private jets, military aircraft, fine cars, motorcycles and art. “Boarding Pass” tickets are on sale now, and ticket numbers are limited. NO TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT THE DOOR–RESERVED SEATING AND ID ENTRY ONLY. Identification for all parties attending will be required, and space is limited to 400.

CANCELED 8/19/2008 Sunday’s Concorso Event (formerly Concorso D’Italy or Concorso D’Italia tied with Annapolis and Baltimore’s Historic Little Italy) is growing even larger this year and will showcase not only Italian vehicles, but all makes and models of luxury, high line, exotic automobiles. Celebrating the “Art of the Automobile” with artist Jon Kendall, the car show style event will feature over 100 exotic automobiles on display at the site, and much more. To be held at Power Plant LIVE in Baltimore City’s downtown Inner Harbor venue; crowds in excess of 5000 people are expected to join the fun at the gathering, so plan ahead now. VIP “Pit Passes” are available and many area hotels are already booking up with reservations for the classic auto event weekend.

All proceeds benefit the USO Metro–an organization supporting Baltimore Washington and Mid-Atlantic Regional based troops and their families–and donations are tax deductible.

For more information about vehicle registration contact Dave Born at daveborn@kw.com. To participate as a volunteer, prize donor, or sponsor for the rally contact Kae Davis at mobexotics@gmail.com. To learn more details about the upcoming event please visit www.mobexotics.com and search the site for the term “Concorso Baltimore 2008” for all current and updated information. 10 Best Cities to Live, Work, Play

Where are the best cities in the country to live, work, and play? Kiplinger Personal Finance magazine did its best to answer that question in its 2008 Best Cities report.

Kiplinger says it looked for strong economies and abundant jobs, a reasonable cost of living, and lots of fun things to do.

Kevin Stolarick, research director at the Martin Prosperity Institute, a think tank that studies economic prosperity, worked with the magazine to make the top 10 selections. “Our formula highlights cities not just with strong past performance, but also with all the ingredients for future success,” he says.

Here are the cities selected:

  1. Houston
  2. Raleigh, N.C.
  3. Omaha, Neb.
  4. Boise, Idaho
  5. Colorado Springs, Colo.
  6. Austin, Texas
  7. Fayetteville, Ark.
  8. Sacramento, Calif.
  9. Des Moines, Iowa
  10. Provo, Utah

Mozilla Aims to Set Guinness Book Record for Most Downloads in a Day–Pledge to Download FIREFOX3 and Help Make TECH TRIVIA HISTORY

Everything Ashburn thinks it is safe to say that folks living in the DC Metro, Baltimore Washington, and Dulles Technology regions know their way around the the Internet highways. Having grown up and cut our teeth on Internet Explorer, many of us have moved up the more sophisticated web browser Firefox created by a company affectionately known as Mozilla.

Now, with IT Marketing on the cutting edge, they have come up with an interesting and fun plan to promote their latest and (we hope) greatest new version of their tab topped, firewall protected, adware shunning software; they are asking patrons to download the new software version all together during one 24 hour period–and they are aiming to set the record straight.

Here’s the scoop, extracted right from the Mozilla Firefox page:

Set a Guinness World Record
Enjoy a Better Web

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

By the way, the official date for the launch of Firefox 3 will be posted here soon – so check back! Join our community and this effort by pledging today.

I pledge to get Firefox 3 during Download Day to set the Guinness World Record for Most Software Downloaded in 24 Hours.

Pledge Now!

We’ve pledged… and will look forward to following this story. Our guess is that other folks around Ashburn and Brambleton will too. As such, we are looking forward to monitoring their progress on the story… and will post reminders as the date nears, too. For more information about the date of the release, please visit http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord. If you are new to Firefox, give it a few weeks until you know your way around before you dismiss it in favor of the old IE tried and true. We know we did, and are obviously glad. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here telling you.
